We are Lauren and Jon, a married couple aspiring to live a life of travel and adventure with our dog, Belka. Having both worked hard for many years, with a home, family and friends and success in our careers we wanted to try a different way of life. We decided to start this blog because we enjoy writing about our experiences and want to share travel inspiration with you.
A travel and adventure lifestyle is not just for twenty-year-olds on a gap year. In our trips we have met people just like us. People twice our age, living out of a backpack. Life-long office-workers volunteering on farms. Recent divorcees travelling alone for the very first time. Their reasons are all similar: they do it because they always wanted to. It is never too late to decide to make a change and this website brings you stories, advice and travel inspiration from our experience.

A bit more about us
Lauren
Lauren is a qualified teacher, theatre practitioner and writer. Her proudest moments include taking a student expedition team to Ecuador, drafting her first novel and recently reaching the top of a climbing wall. Lauren loves travelling, having treated herself to a trip of the Trans-Siberian railroad for her 30th birthday, she is now looking forward to being in Japan for her 40th. Together with Jon, Lauren has enjoyed plenty of adventures from a road trip around Cuba to diving in the Galapagos Islands. Lauren is now working hard to write full time whilst being available for teaching and tutoring sessions, specialising in Shakespeare.
Jon
Jon is an adventurer at heart. He has driven 8000 miles across Europe, completed multi-day hikes and swum with sharks. Jon has had a long and impressive career managing a training and education business as well as leading transformational change during Covid-19. He has now taken the brave decision to step away from corporate life to pursue his creative ambitions. He is currently editing his first book as well as creating this blog. Together with Lauren, Jon has embarked on many adventures including a winter road trip of Italy, a sleeper train tour for his birthday and kayaking in the Galapagos Islands. They are now busy planning their next adventure!
Belka
Belka is a pomskollie. One of the first litters from his mother, Laika (pomsky) and his father Blue (blue merle collie). His parents belong to a lovely family in Wales. Being a mix of working breeds, Belka is smart, alert and loves training. However, his husky heritage brings a streak of cheekiness and stubbornness that we love (although it can be very frustrating!) We names him Belka after the second dog in space as his mum is Laika (after the first dog in space). The original Belka was also the first dog to survive space travel, going on to have puppies that were owned by the Kennedys. Belka loves treasure hunts, stalking other dogs and demanding to be picked up during walks. He is the best adventure buddy and we can’t wait to take him exploring around the world.
